Quality of care and cost effectiveness continue to be primary concerns for most employer purchasers because improving quality has proven to reduce costs and lead to more efficient and effective care for their employees. Cost and quality are core to the employer’s desire to provide reliable coverage for their employees while being fiscally responsible with their company’s bottom line. Availability of data and full reporting by health plans and providers feeds into quality initiatives and gives employers the information they need to comparison shop. Improving the quality of care and health outcomes for patients is critical to reign in spending and create a more sustainable health care system.
Through the years, BHCAG and our members have helped advance quality improvement by advocating for reporting initiatives like eValue8, Minnesota Bridges to Excellence, the Leapfrog Group hospital quality report, and the Minnesota Department of Health adverse events report.
